Suggestions to Strengthen Credit Power

We will not recommend any service that wants to charge you for information that is already, probably, free on the Internet.

For instance, use the multitude of free sites. Don't pay for a protection service if you don't need it.

Tips: You are probably are already aware of most of this:

  • Check your free credit report from all 3 major credit bureaus annually.
  • Dispute incorrect or wrong information; not your debt or incorrect amounts.
  • Don't use sites that ask you to provide a credit or debit card to join; there are free options available.
  • Unless you are a victim of identity theft, don't pay for credit monitoring - yet.
  • Carefully join Credit Karma, Experian, Transunion, Equifax, and others like them.
  • They will "recommend" no-ding decline, pay you if declined, credit cards tailored to your needs, personal loans for you, blah, blah, blah!
  • Remember, those companies are paid to entice you to apply for credit.
  • Pay your bills on time. Pay more than the minimum. Pay down the highest balances.
  • Payment history is 35% of your score. Total debt ratio (available debt versus amount owed) is 30% of your score.
  • Limit your new credit applications; each credit inquiry will reduce your score by at least 3 points.
